Lockdown Challenge - Monday Week 7

 Ahiahi Mārie

Here is my post for Daily Challenge - Monday 31st.

The class was asked to have a go at a scrabble style task, and only use the letters below. I also asked the class to see if who could find the highest scoring word.

Some of the words I came up with:

Dine, Bing, Ding, Dinge, Binge, Dined, Binged, Bedding
Horse, Short, Store, Others, Soother

Bedding and Soother both scored 14.

Can you do any better than I have?

Lockdown Challenge - Thursday

 Pō marie koutou,

Thursday's Daily challenge was to create a contrasting piece of art.

I created my piece of art by drawing around my hand and creating 8 different patterns on the page. I used warm colours for the hand and cool colours for the background. I made sure that my patterns were consistent from background to hand but just changed colours. This was quite an interesting task to do as you really had to think about where your pattern was going and how to transfer the colours into a contrasting way.
It was quite time consuming but really rewarding in the end. I was also a little restricted by the colours I had on hand and wish I had a bit more of a range.

Have a go yourself and see how you go.

Lockdown Daily Challenge - Wednesday

Mōrena koutou,

Whoops I am a little late with this post but here it is anyway.

Our challenge on Wednesday was to create some nature art:

Have a look in your surroundings. See if you can find anything in your garden - leaves on the ground, twigs, flower petals that may have fallen. Create a funny picture from these items and post it to your blog.

I'm very lucky that we have a park right around the corner and also quite a few bushes and trees in the garden. I definitely didn't want to pick any of the beautiful flowers that are starting to peek through, namely daffodils, but I was able to find a lot of debris lying on the grass.

Mostly I had leaves, twigs, rocks, and some daffodils that were growing on the lawn. I noticed I had a lot of long leaves and branches and to me that screamed hair, so my creation turned into a girl with long hair and daffodils in her hair. I used some unopened rose buds (collected from the ground) as eyes and a large rock for her nose. I also liked the shape of the leaf I used for her mouth. It made me think she had a secret.

Could I have made anything different with the nature that I had available. I'd love to see any of your creations!!

Lockdown Daily Challenge

 Kia ora koutou,

For Wānanga I have put up a daily challenge. Different things that you might want to post about, and as part of that wānanga here is my contribution.

Tuesday 24th August Daily Challenge - Post about a Hobby.

My very recent hobby is crocheting.
Crocheting is a form of knitting. But instead of using long needles, and having the wool staying on the needles, crocheting uses a hook to make chains and loops.
I started crocheting because I have several siblings who will have children in the new year. A total of 3 new babies are coming. I though it might be really nice to make my new nieces/nephews some soft baby toys or blankets.
I have started learning new stitches and made a few things for myself. As I wanted to make sure the things I make for the babies were good quality I started off by making a few things for myself, since I don't mind mistakes.
I have started by making some squares of different stitches, and use them as face cloths as well as a large blanket for myself. Unfortunately I have run out of wool!! And since I can't go and get any more due to lockdown I will just have to wait until we can safely go to the shops.
Here are some of the parts to my blanket below - work in progress. I absolutely
love the colours.

I'm really enjoying it because I can put on a movie/TV series on while I'm doing it and just chill out.
